Dragging the walls is fiddly. Can I just type 12' × 14'?

SOLUTION
Yes. Select the room and type its width and depth in the properties panel. The walls around it move with it.
For a single wall, select it and type its length. You can also drag a wall sideways and the walls joined to it stretch to follow.
